Monsters University Birthday Party

The chevron digital paper is from Erin Kay Studio. I just changed the color to match my theme. I made the frame myself. I used Monster AG font for Charlotte, Varsity Regular font for is turning 5, Kristen ITC Semi-Expanded font for the date and regrets, and Home & Hearth Outline Bold for Charlotte's house, Just Cole font for address.

I have always adored the background that was done on this Sesame Street party! I love using crepe paper streamer because it is so inexpensive.

I thought the cake that Beth Kruse had done at her Monsters Inc. party rocked! Charlotte loves Sully and I knew I had to attempt the furry Sully level. The Wilton grass tip is so not fun to work with! Even though, I think it was worth it in the end.When we watched the movie in the theater I thought it was really funny when Randy made cupcakes that spelled be my pal. It was a very easy way to incorporate him into the party food. I just used Wilton red sparkle gel to pipe on the letters.

I also loved the Mike Wazowski grape platter that Beth Kruse had at her Monsters Inc. party. I was in the Dollar Store and found this plastic green chip platter that worked perfect for Mike. I used my Making Memories circle cutter and colored cardstock to make the eye. I adhered it to the platter with glue dots.

The food label cards I made to match the invitation. I posted blank ones that you can either hand write on or add your own text. You can find them here.

My Mother-in-law made the adorable monster sandwiches. I found them at My Own Road blog and knew they would be perfect. She has a great tutorial and you should check it out!

Since Charlotte wanted to be Squishy for Halloween I thought it would be a perfect outfit to wear for her birthday picture. The polka dot digital paper is from Secret Stash. The fonts are Varsity Regular font and Monster AG font. I also made a MU tag for the top of the candy jar. Charlotte made the box at a Lowe's Build and Grow clinic.

Here is Art's craft station. There was Monsters University coloring pages and a monster bookmark craft.

My two year old glued googly eyes to the buckets for me :) We filled the bottom of each bucket with candy or small toys and the kids tried to throw an eyeball in the bucket to get a prize. I just let the kids keep trying until they got something and then they were allowed to go to the end of the line to play again.

I got the idea for the eye ping pong balls from this Monster Inc. party. I just used Sharpies to draw them on.

The game was a huge hit!!!

For the favors I made a sheet of Monsters University logos and had them printed on adhesive paper. I just cut them out right along the outside black edge and stuck them to mini composition books that I bought at the Dollar Store. I got lucky and found the pencils on clearance at Walmart. I just used green washi tape to stick them to the notebooks.

Sofia the First Birthday Party

Yay! I turned 2 and got to be a princess for the day :)

I spent way too much time making this invite...lol. I couldn't find any Sofia images that were large enough on a transparent background. I ended up having to digitally cut her out (so not fun). Luckily, I found the birds already done, because otherwise they wouldn't of been on the invite ;) The background digital paper and the textured digital paper in the frame is from Just Jaimee, I just changed the color to what I needed. The Evelyn the First uses Freebooter Script font, the date, address, and regrets uses Ebrima font, and bring your bathing suit uses Gabriola font.

I loved using the plastic wine glasses for fruit! They turned out really cute. My Mother-in-law used a mini heart and flower cookie cutter to shape some of the melon. I really scored on the material that I used for the background. I only paid about $3 for it!

I found a picture on my phone of a close-up picture of the popcorn cups. I took regular paper cups and dressed them up with crepe paper roses, paper butterflies, and ruffled crepe paper. To make the roses I used this tutorial.

 The cupcake stand was from Oriental Trading. It's made out of styrofoam but I think it looked fine once I attached the satin ribbon on the sides.

My Mother-in-law made the cute tiara cookies. I couldn't find sprinkles that are peanut free so I colored some organic sugar. I mixed a few drops Americolor gel food coloring and a tiny bit of water in a small bowl. Then I put some sugar in a ziploc freezer bag, added the watered down food coloring, sealed the bag, and shook it like crazy. I found that the food coloring would turn into small balls. To break them up, I used my fingers on the outside of the bag and then shook it some more. Once I achieved the color that I wanted I spread the sugar on a paper plate (or 2) and let air dry for a few hours. The cookie cutter and Americolor I bought from the Cookie Cutter Shop. I have found them to have great prices, reasonable shipping, and fast shipping.

The pretzel rods are just dipped in melted white chocolate chips (Target brand didn't have a peanut warning) and then sprinkled with my homemade colored sugar.

I made two cupcake bouquets. I had found a great tutorial on a better way to do them so that they are nice and sturdy. You use 2oz plastic cups. I found a bag of them for super cheap at Walmart.

Of course a Sofia party would not be complete without Amulet of Avalor necklaces! I used stretch cord with acrylic beads to make the necklaces. I knew I had to have something for the boys so I made them some beaded bracelets as well. I matched the tags to the invitations. The font used is Great Vibes.

For crafts I had the kids decorate foam tiaras and/or gold paper crowns with self adhesive gems. I bought the supplies from Oriental Trading. They also got to color Sofia the First pages with crayons. After cupcakes we all went swimming :)

Little Mermaid Birthday Party

For Charlotte's 4th birthday she requested an Ariel party. My good friend Christina helped me a lot! We used the Disney Dreams Come True Cricut cartridge to make the invitations, favors, cake topper, and banner.

I was so excited when I found Little Mermaid puzzles at the Dollar Store. To dress them up I attached a piece of textured cardstock to the box. We made the tags using the charm feature on the cartridge.

I got the idea for the sea grass background from Delia Creates under the sea birthday party.

I just loved the adorable octopus dip at Denna's Ideas mermaid party. When I showed my Mother-In-Law she said she had to make it :)

The pearly bite clam cookies were a big hit and really fun to make. I used Pepperidge Farm lemon cookies because they looked like shells. For the eyes I used Wilton's candy eyes.

I made an ombre petal cake. I love the way it turned out! The tutorial from the Hungry Housewife is fantastic. I had some shimmer cardstock from Bazzill that we used for Ariel's dress. I glued her and Sebastian on lollipop sticks for the cake topper.

This was one very happy birthday girl!!!

The Ariel gown I made using the Simplicity pattern below. For the fabric I used Kona cotton. It is so soft and doesn't wrinkle easily. I also used the Snow White sleeves on the Ariel dress and hand sewed on the beaded trim. I planned on making long sleeves with points at the wrist that would snap in but never got around to it. We live in Florida so I didn't want to commit to a long sleeve dress. We purchased the broach from Princess Cameos.

Lil' Cupcake First Birthday Party

As I'm planning Evelyn's 2nd birthday party and looking back at pictures from last years, I have come to realize that I never shared her party. Really, I have barely posted anything! Even though this is from last year I'm still going to post it :) My friend Nikki McAnary took all the photos at the party for me.

I made the invitation and had it printed on glossy photo paper

The background was made using cheap crepe paper streamers and a store bought banner

We made these mini deep dish fruit pizzas using this recipe

I also made the dessert cards and printed them on heavy cardstock

Watermelon cut out with different sized heart cookie cutters

The straws were bought from DK DeleKtables on Etsy. They did a custom order for me and were really nice to buy from.

I made the highchair tutu using spools of tulle knotted on satin ribbon. I just taped it here and there around her tray to get it to stay. I bought the tulle from Deana's Crafts on Etsy. They have a lot of colors to choose from and really good prices.

The birthday girl had a blast! She really loves to party ;)

We forgot to take pictures of the party favors so instead here is a picture I had posted on my Instagram. The tags were made using the Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge.
